Quite the achievement, but with the name it made me wonder . . . I’m sure Genghis is a well behaved dog, but every dog gets into mischief once in a while, right? What do you think Martha does when that happens? I’m guessing she musters up her best William Shatner Star Trek imitation and yells “KHAAAAAAANNN!” Ya think?

Well, our congrats to Martha and Genghis and all the Westminster winners. As the show festivities wind down, National Etching is happy to now have etched designs for all six of the latest new breeds recognized this year by the Westminster Kennel Club. As of today we’ve added the Entlebucher Mountain Dog, Finnish Lapphund and Norwegian Lundehund. We also couldn’t resist including the Chow Chow to celebrate Martha’s win. (Etched Glass designs for the other three breeds, the American English Coonhound, Cesky Terrier and Xoloitzcuintli were released a couple of days ago.)

All of the designs look fabulous on our handsome treat jars and pint glasses, but don’t let that limit your imagination. If you look though our site and decide you want an etched Riedel wine glass, etched glass award or any other product with a specific dog breed, let us know. We’re happy to get you exactly what you want.

And as a reminder for all the dog lovers out there, if you’re looking for etched glass items and you don’t see the specific breed you’re interested in, give us a call. National Etching is always looking to expand our dog related etched glass product lines. Watch for more designs coming soon, including a design for this year’s Best in Show, the Pekingese.

You may have heard recently that the Westminster Kennel Club is recognizing six new breeds for competition. If you’ve visited our Pets and Fun Stuff section on the National Etching website you’ve probably see our breed related treat jars and pint glasses. We love being able to offer pet related etched glass in Seattle (and its surroundings), which is definitely a dog loving town. Well, we’ve been working furiously to get all six new breeds into the mix. The six breeds are: American English Coonhound, Cesky Terrier, Entlebucher Mountain Dog, Finnish Lapphund, Norwegian Lundehund and Xoloitzcuintli. As of today, we have products for three of the six breeds ready to go. Take a look if your best friend is an American English Coonhound, Cesky Terrier or a Xoloitzcuintli.

Later this week we’ll have the additional three breeds ready to roll, so watch for a posting regarding Entlebucher Mountain Dog, Finnish Lapphund and Norwegian Lundehund products.

Also, if you belong to a canine club and are interested in a breed you don’t see listed on our site for awards or gifts for your club members, be sure to let us know and we’ll look into creating exactly what you need. (Click here to see all breeds currently offered.)

Thanks for taking a look. We appreciate the interest.

I, myself, kind of like swigging it straight out of the 1/2-gallon growler etched with my personal logo. Just like beauty, taste is in the eye, er, make that the taste buds of the beholder.

It feels weird to start our first company blog post by launching into all the products and services we provide, so first, let’s welcome you to . . . (musical fanfare) . . . The National Etching Blog. As a matter of introduction, National Etching is located in beautiful Issaquah, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. What do we do? Quite simply, lots of fun stuff. We specialize in etching glass, so we can etch company logos, customized artwork or your specific text onto a variety of crystal and glass products. Etching is a very “hands on” process and we see ourselves as craftspeople who take the time and care to produce exceptional work for our clients. We aren’t satisfied unless our clients are satisfied. Anyone can say that, but once you get to know us, you’ll see it’s true!

What is etching as opposed to printing on glass? We use pressurized abrasive material to eat away, or etch the surface of glass. This produces permanent frosted marks on the glass. But unlike printing, etching won’t fade over time with multiple dishwasher washings. Etching lasts as long as the glass itself, and once you see the result and feel it, you’ll be hooked! That’s why we all work here—we happen to believe that etched glass is really cool! OK, ok, that sounds a bit dorky, but seriously, we have fun with our clients and enjoy working on the wide variety of great ideas they come up with.

As time goes on, I’d encourage you to keep checking this blog. We’ll post ideas our customers have had and photos of the products we’ve generated for them to help spur your ideas for the perfect gift. To start with, here’s a quick list of some of the things we’ve been etching in the past few weeks:

Riedel crystal wine glasses for Red Sky Winery in Woodinville, Washington

Customized pint glasses and growlers for home brewers

Wine glasses for Joey Restaurant and Lounge in Bellevue, Washington

Awards for Seattle’s Sloop Tavern Yacht Club

Dog treat jars and pint glasses with dog images that we have posted on Amazon and are sending all over the country

So take a look around the website to get an idea of the types of products we offer. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, give us a call at 1-800-932-9273 or email us at info@nationaletching.com and you can tell us exactly what you’re looking for.

Happy Holidays!
