Green Production
We are committed to being earth-friendly wherever possible.
We source locally, invest in reusable supplies and focus on reducing our impact to the environment by minimizing or eliminating plastic.
When unable to source locally, we look for suppliers who are equally invested in green production. The cork for our labels is harvested in the western Mediterranean from sustainable forests created to protect the resource and regulate the quality. Once a tree is harvested and the cork starts growing back, it absorbs about 5 times the amount of CO2, helping reduce greenhouse gases.
We use recyclable materials for shipping. Our glass is wrapped in paper, not plastic. Up until 2013, we packed all our glassware in peanuts and bubble wrap. After viewing the movie Trashed, narrated by Jeremy Irons, we redesigned our packaging to be recyclable. We now wrap our glassware in paper and pack into cardboard boxes. Our breakage rates are well under 1% with tens of thousands of glassware orders shipped directly to consumers.
